I already own the STANDING FIRM DVD. Why do I need a license?:
Because it's the law. Copyright law is crystal clear concerning the use of retail DVDs in any environment outside of your home. The screening kits make it possible for you to gain a license to allow showing the film in other locations besides a home LEGALLY.
Why are you asking for our Average Weekly Church Attendance?:
To make our screening packages more affordable, the price is based on the average weekly attendance of your church. If you're not a church, you will need to purchase a STANDARD Package or License (this includes schools, groups, or other ministries not attached to a church). If you are a traveling ministry and you will do showings at different churches, you will need to buy a separate license for each location. If you have questions please email us.
Why do the church screenings cost so much?:
While the cost of the screening kits and licenses might seem like a lot at first glance, you'll notice with some simple mat h that it only costs a dollar or two per person to show the film. For the smaller packages at $129, that's just over $1 per person to watch the film. Don't forget you can show the film an unlimited number of times throughout the year, so you get your money's worth!
Can we charge admission for the screening?
Yes. Many churches charge admission to pay for the license fee or use the screening as a fundraiser.
How can I be sure that the films are appropriate for screening at my church?
We understand the need to make sure a film is doctrinally/spiritually sound before showing it to your congregation, as well as the content and any "questionable" things within. Please take the time to read the Dove Foundation's review of the film as well as this article published in the August 2010 issue of the AFA Journal.
We're a large church but we're only showing it to a small group, can we just buy the small license or screening kit?:
The packages are catagorized by average weekly attendance, NOT showing size. Since the license grants unlimited showings for a full year after purchase, you can not only show it to that small group, but your full church, a ministry event, or anything else hosted at your local church building. This is why things are charged accordingly.
The cost is too much for us, what can we do?:
We understand in these economic times, that spending even a hundred dollars for a church could be taxing. However, consider these great ideas for recouping the cost of your screening kit:
1. Sell refreshments at your event like drinks, popcorn, etc.
2. Request a "love offering" from viewers as they exit.
3. The week before screening, ask your congregation to add to their regular giving to cover the cost. Even with smaller congregations buying the Small Kit ($129), that's only a little over $1 extra per person for their weekly tithe. |
